In light of NBC News anchorman Brian Williams apologizing for his erroneous claim about being aboard a helicopter that was hit and forced down by RPG fire during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, former governor of Alaska Sarah Palin has taken to social media to say I told you so.
On (throwback) Thursday Palin turned to her media archive and reposted a photo of her being interviewed by Williams. She also pulls a quote, dated July 26, 2009: “Some straight talk for some – just some – in the media, because another right protected for all of us is freedom of the press. And you have such important jobs, reporting facts, and informing the electorate, and exerting power to influence. You represent what could and should be a respected honest profession, that could and should be a cornerstone of our democracy. Democracy depends on you. And that is why, that’s why our troops are willing to die for you. So, how about, in honor of the American soldier, you quit making things up.” Williams has said that’s his plan.
