My So-Called Life would have been revived after its too-soon cancellation if it had lived in the age of Twitter and Facebook. But the mid-90s offered no platform to campaign for such things–and the beloved show about growing up met the same fate as an equally beloved show on the same subject–Freaks and Geeks.
But if you want to find today’s movie stars in their formative roles, these two shows are goldmines. James Franco, Seth Rogen and Jason Segel were freaks and geeks, and Claire Danes and Jared Leto turned their so-called lives into giant success, with Leto taking home an Oscar last year for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club.
