Burger King likes to say it has fresh ideas, but it’s taking one out of the vault to bite back at Subway’s sandwich menu. The rejuvenated Burger King is bringing back the Yumbo, a big hot ham and cheese sandwich it hasn’t served in 40 years. The Yumbo has been off the menu longer than Burger King’s boy wonder CEO, Daniel Schwartz (33), has been on earth.
But like Jolt Cola and other recently resurrected brands/products, the Yumbo caught a wave of nostalgia on the Internet that turned into a clamor for its return. Or so says the King: “It got to the point where it’s one of those things we can no longer ignore,” said Eric Hirschhorn, chief marketing officer for Burger King North America. Better try one now–it’s for a limited time only.
