The 100+ V6 sounds like something out of Detroit, but it’s a smartphone out of China. And it’s wearing an iPhone costume. (Or is iPhone wearing its?) Made by Chinese smartphone maker Digione, the 100+ V6 is a dead ringer for the iPhone 6 except for two big things: it’s an Android phone and it only costs about $130. An iPhone 6 runs upwards of $600–or four times the price of the impostor.
It’s not unusual to copy the market leader–it happens in every business. But the twist here is that Digione claims Apple copied its design, according to Macworld. (Steve Jobs was known to quote T.S. Eliot: good artists borrow, great ones steal.) Digione is out ahead of the issue too, making their complaint public and posting a letter it sent to Apple on social media.
