Your kid wants an iPad. Or she thinks she does. What she really wants is a tablet. At least you hope so, because an iPad is gonna cost you. But companies do, thankfully, make starter tablets--think of them as gateway drugs. (And if you've ever seen a kid zone out in front of an iPad you know the analogy is legit.) Besides if you buy your second grader an iPad with every feature in the world--you'll just have to turn off most of them.
Here are three choices that are real-looking--not kids stuff--that shouldn't disappoint. All less than $150.
- Kurio 7S Kids, 7-inch tablet with Android 4.2 & 8GB memory. Walmart lists this at $49.88 when doors open.
- Nabi 2 Nickelodeon Edition Wi-Fi Tablet, 8GB memory. Walmart says $99 for this one, while it lasts.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Kids Tablet. Toys R Us at 129.99 looks best on price here.
