After much speculation (really, a lot of speculation), Rachel McAdams has finally been confirmed as a member of the cast of the second season of True Detective. McAdams will play “Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.” Taylor Kitsch and Kelly Reilly have also joined the cast of the detective drama, which is currently in production in California. Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn have already been cast. Farrell was spotted on set last week, and appears to be channeling Nick Nolte in 48 Hours by way of Josh Brolin. At the very least, he’s rocking the pornstache.
The role of Ani Bezzerides has been at the center of many rumors, with practically every actress in Hollywood attached to it. McAdams’ name was mentioned early on in the casting rumors. After all the buzz about the show’s cast and plot, not to mention the critical plaudits that the drama’s first season received, will the second season live up to all the hype? The HBO drama will air next summer.
