Announced in October, Microsoft Sway is a fresh modern presentation app meant to grab back–or, um, sway–all the cool kids who currently pitch the rich with Prezi. Sway pretty much does what you’d think it should–easy drag and drop from social or the cloud. Sway works with a browser or via a phone app. And, yes, your priceless presentation lives in the cloud. (Don’t put nude photos in it!)
What’s perhaps most interesting about Microsoft’s Sway preview so far is the sharing aspect of the software. Social sharing isn’t something anyone associates with PowerPoint, Microsoft’s hoary presentation software juggernaut. On its blog the Sway team emphasizes how a father and daughter used Sway to “keep in touch by sharing seven photos each Sunday.” Because, you know, it’s hard these days to find ways to share photos with your family! But really, Sway is smooth and powerful and kind of a groovy entry from the former king in Redmond. Alas, the iPhone version is available so far only in New Zealand.
