The first official trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been leaked online a day ahead of its being shown in select theaters over the weekend. The trailer to the J.J. Abrams movie offers a glimmer of what movie-goers can expect next December, including beloved Star Wars elements such as the Millenium Falcon, X-Wing fighters, lightsabers, and a few bars of John Williams’ classic score.
Both the dark and the light sides of the Force, er, the Internet, have responded to the trailer. “When can we expect Neil Degrasse Tyson to ruin the Star Wars trailer for us?” reads one tweet, while another comments “I see a guy with a cross-guard on his lightsaber and I’m pretty much thinking ‘Jedi Hipster.'” There have of course also been Photoshopped parodies. One twitpic, captioned “Exclusive: hidden frame in Star Wars trailer” shows Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, JJ Abrams’ beloved light flares, and the much-maligned Jar-Jar Binks.
