Derrick Rose put his foot in his mouth this week (assuming he can move his tender foot like that) telling people that he’s sitting out now so he won’t have sore legs in a meeting 20 years from now–or something like that. “When I sit out it’s not because of this year. I’m thinking about long term… Having graduations to go to, having meetings to go to, I don’t want to be in my meetings all sore… I’m just learning and being smart,” Rose said.
Barkley disagreed about the last part. The being smart thing. “He’s a great player and a great kid…but that was stupid,” said Sir Charles. Barkley limps, he said, home to his mansion–it’s a trade-off. Some people limp home to shacks. Rose is nursing tender ankles and some other nagging injuries and mostly watching from the sidelines as his teammates go all out on the floor. One thing is really clear through all of this: boy, that Joakim Noah is going to be sore in meetings in 2032. He really is. Just look at him go.
