Every city with an NFL team serves chicken wings in a wide variety, from Thai to honey-infused to barbecue to the original Buffalo wing flavor made of hot sauce, love and butter.
And depending on whether your team is winning or losing, they taste a little different. But these ten NFL cities top our informal email survey. San Diego, New Orleans and Jacksonville will probably disagree, but here they are. The top 10 NFL cities ranked by chicken wings.
#2 -- KANSAS CITY (Chiefs) -- The only thing that lures barbecue-crazed Chiefs fans away from pulled pork and beef brisket is the true tang of a Kansas City chicken wing. The famous Peanut wings (shown below) will deliver anywhere in the country.
#3 -- NEW YORK (Jets/Giants) --It's down the road from Buffalo a bit, but the competition alone in America's biggest metropolis guarantees flavor. Like at Wogie's Bar & Grill.
#4 -- HOUSTON (Texans) -- But barbecue-loving Houston Texas wing it up like few others, with a diversity that may surprises some unsuspecting visitors. Like these addictive wings at Thanh Phuong in Pearland.
# 5 -- DALLAS (Cowboys) -- Back to back Texas choices but it's a big hungry state that knows how to eat. Like these at (nod to #1) Buffalo Brothers. (image: Facebook)
# 6 -- CLEVELAND (Browns) --may be the land of Beer Can Chicken, but the city loves it wings. Like the 25 varieties, including traditional below, at Dinas Pizza & Pub.
# 7 --OAKLAND (Raiders) -- Surprised? First of all they love food in the Bay Area and wings really suit the tough guy Raiders image. After all a common take on its logo features skull and bones! Check out Crogan's.
# 8 -- PHILADELPHIA (Eagles) -- Yeah, yeah cheese steaks, we've heard. But the Philly palate with its love of all things cholesterol is tailor-made for the hot, deep fried, spicy goodness of wings--wings are on the helmets! Like the ones at Sto's Bar.
# 9 -- BALTIMORE (Ravens) -- Famous for crabs, sure. But add a little old bay seasoning to your regulation chicken wing recipe and you've stepped it up and made it your own, like they do in Baltimore.
# 10 --CHICAGO (Bears) -- Another food crazy city where a wing sauce made of 2/3 melted butter can be considered a heart-healthy break from the normal tailgating fare. Chicago's wings are slamming good. Like Mother Hubbard's.
#11 --PITTSBURGH (Steelers) -- You knew Pittsburgh would be on the list. Super Bowls and wings just go together. Try 'em at Mario's Eastside Saloon.
