Way back in the 1960s researchers found two gigantic dinosaur arms--8 feet long--in the southern Gobi desert in Mongolia. (Way back is a relative term, of course, the arms were 70 million years old.) Scientists have wondered ever since about what kind of creature these mysterious arms belonged to--they were unlike any other dinosaur bones found. Finally a team of Korean and Japanese researchers found two entire skeletons of the dinosaur that the arms belonged to.
The find changes a lot about the kinds of shapes we know dinosaurs can come in. This 36-foot long dinosaur is so strange-looking--with a horse face, a giant camel's hump on its back, short legs, long tail and long arms--that even Jim Henson's people couldn't have made it up. The scientific findings were published yesterday by the journal Nature.
