Cadillac announced this week that its new sedan will be called the CT6. The car company has decided that moving forward it will call all Cadillacs — ATS, CTS and XTS (excluding SUVs) – CT. The CT nomenclature will be followed by a number to indicate the car’s size and position in the Cadillac family. Got that?
So while BMW leads the luxury sedan market with its 3-series, 5-series and 7-series, Cadillac will try to keep it simple too. But with simplicity, creativity and personality can get lost. Names like Fleetwood and Eldorado conjure memories for many people who’ve never driven a Cadillac. But Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell says “it’s not up for a public vote.” Too bad, with General Motors moving Cadillac headquarters to New York, the car company misses the marketing opportunity to roll out The Empire or the Knickerbocker or the Hudson Line or…
