An outdoor concert in Mansfield, MA by Grammy winner and American Idol judge Keith Urban ended with 46 people treated for "mostly alcohol-related medical problems," according to Reuters. With so many injuries--numerous people simply passed out from alcohol abuse--the concert, just outside Boston, required an EMS plan utilizing ambulances from five mutual aid communities to go into action, the Boston Herald reported.
Urban tweeted that the crowd was "nutso." Mr. Urban himself has been there. The country musician has admitted to severe drug and alcohol addictions that threatened his life. "I was going to lose it all," he told People magazine back in 2007. He credits his wife, the actress Nicole Kidman, with saving his life. Kidman gave Urban a new perspective that allowed him to move on from the bottle. Ms. Kidman could be of use in Massachusetts, apparently.
