Fashion brand DKNY has just debuted a women's collection to celebrate Ramadan, a month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide and representing one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Ramadan Capsule Collection--the first faith-focused line by DKNY--has been lauded by many for appealing deliberately to Muslim women (a group not often specifically targeted by the American fashion industry). It may also bridge a perception gap about vast differences between cultures at a basic level--these designs won't look out of place in the synagogue or the cathedral.
Its twelve looks are modeled by female bloggers Yalda Golsharifi and Tamara al Gabbani, who are also featured in a Q&A on the collection's website.
