Charles Finch, author of the book Most Art Sucks, praises Cindy Sherman (who’s enjoying a big, lavish career retrospective at the MoMA) as “the last star of the art world.” Or the last star of the art world that he likes. In an article for artnet, he compares her to other art stars (without naming the names of Damien Hurst, Jeffrey Koons, etc.) who have debased themselves all in name of the “gallery dollar.”
