The world’s oldest existing teapot (made in China, circa 1513) is the main attraction at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in Hong Kong. The pot is small, designed for one – the Chinese historically drank directly from the spout. The house (the pot’s fourth residence or its fortieth? nobody knows) was built by English colonists in the 19th century; it was the cozy digs of the Commander of the British Forces in Hong Kong, a tea fanatic.
NBC Universal, the exclusive American broadcaster of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, designed a soon-to-be ubiquitous lapel pin featuring a tea pot designed with the Union Jack. It can be purchased on NBC’s online store for $9.99. It is made in China.
